Grr. Windows XP networking. Grr.
The wireless part seemed to work fine. However, Windows seemed incapable of actually using it for networking. It couldn't even ping the wireless access point it was connected to. The current theory is that the Netgear software is clashing with the XP wireless support and the route table is messed up.
At least leathellin seems to have sorted out her work laptop with wireless now by entirely disabling the Windows XP built-in wireless support and just using the Cisco software that was installed.
